September also brought about two performances by Australia based Chaos/Order magickian, artist and ritual theatrickalist, Orryelle Defenestrate-Bascule.
On 14th September at a former Catholic “secret house” - Lyveden New Bield, near Oundle, Orryelle performed "Parzival - The Fool's Journey" - the classic tale of the Tarot's protagonist reworked as the errant knight Parzival seeks the Holy Grail and the Spear of Destiny. The piece was co-devised and performed by Orryelle and Ilaktra of Travesty Theatre (Canada) with additional UK performers and musickians. Also performed was "8 Gates" Orryelle's solo play and shamanic journey exploring threads between different incarnations upon the Web of Wyrd as refracted through the Well of ReMemBrance.
Our next event with Orryelle was “Chalice of Ecstasy”, an exhibition of new sculptures and drawings followed by re-worked performances of “8 Gates” and “Parzival”. Also joining the proceedings were the members of "This Too Shall Pass" (experimental electronica) and others. The night finished with a set by the sitar-synth duo "Raagnagrok". It was a well-attended event that finished Orryelle’s shows with Theatre of Ophidia on a real high.
